Pop star Ricky Martin heats up Gold Coast

Fans of Ricky Martin might want to hang out around the ClaridgeHotel, beginning today. Word has it, he may be spending some time atthe quiet little Gold Coast inn. The H-O-T Latin pop singer, whowowed the crowd at the Grammys a few weeks back, is zipping into townto attend the Chicago Latino Film Festival's invitation-only Saturdayscreening (not at the Claridge) of "Americanos: Latino Life in theUnited States," a documentary jointly produced by Time Warner andEdward James Olmos.STAR TRACKING: Hong Kong action and "Martial Law" star Sammo Hunghits town for a busy day Monday. Hung will tape a crossover gueststint on "Early Edition" before being honored at the Film Center ofthe School of the Art Institute. That event will include a screeningof Hung's classic action adventure "Eastern Condors."KOSOVO UPDATE: Among the performers at the Kosovo refugee benefittonight and Saturday at Second City's Skybox Studio Theatre will bepopular Chicago area singer Cathy Richardson and Jo Jo Robinson, whowill perform several songs from his new album that Columbia is aboutto release.SIGN OF THE TIMES: As a hostess passed through the elbow-to-elbowcrowd at Fahrenheit the other night, she held up her Palm Pilot andquickly had a lineup of nearly a dozen East Bank Club/trader typesbeaming their numbers from their Palm Pilots for the hostess to addto the new eatery's VIP dining list. Ah, the database for the nextmillennium!

Fahrenheit - which looks to be as hot as its name - is thebrainchild of Gino and Thomas Marchetti of the Como Inn family andDion Antic, who owns Toast, Iggy's, etc. Popular chef PatrickConcannon (Don Juan) heads up the kitchen of the sizzling newrestaurant, 695 N. Milwaukee.
